About Alex Annunziato
Born and raised in South Florida, Alex Annunziato is the son of immigrants who taught him the value of hard work, perseverance, and service to others. From his early years as a Florida State Trooper to his service as a Criminal Defense Attorney and Assistant Public Defender, Alex has dedicated his career to upholding justice and protecting the rights of every citizen in Miami-Dade County.
My Story of Resilience
I was raised in South Florida, the son of immigrants who instilled in me the values of faith, perseverance, and service.
My mother fled communist Cuba as a girl in 1965 and settled in Hialeah. Growing up in Hialeah and later West Dade, I learned early the importance of hard work and community.
As a student, I was honored to receive the Miami Herald Silver Knight Award in Speech for my work as president of student government for Dade County Public Schools, one of the largest school districts in the nation.
After high school, I worked my way through college and law school while serving as a Florida State Trooper and later as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.
I have dedicated my professional life to public service and the law, beginning as an Assistant Public Defender and later serving as Legislative Director and Counsel for a Miami-Dade County Commissioner.
Today, I practice as a trial attorney in civil litigation, representing clients across Florida who are being sued in personal injury cases.
I am the proud husband of Karen Annunziato, also an attorney, and am the father of six children – 4 daughters and 2 sons.
My Story of Redemption
I believe in honesty and transparency with the community I hope to serve. Years ago, I struggled with opioid addiction. Like too many families in Florida, mine was touched by the pain of dependency.
Through effective treatment, relentless hard work, and—most importantly—my faith in Jesus Christ, I overcame that struggle.
I share this part of my story not out of shame, but as a testament to resilience and redemption.
Recovery is possible.
I am living proof that with determination, treatment, and faith, lives can be rebuilt.
This journey has given me profound empathy for those facing hardships and a renewed commitment to fairness, compassion, and accountability in the justice system.
Why I Am Running for Judge I am running for Circuit Court Judge because I believe the courtroom must be a place of fairness, dignity, and respect for all.
My diverse experience—as a police officer, public defender, legislative counsel, and trial attorney—gives me a balanced perspective on the law and the people it serves. I want to bring to the bench not only legal knowledge and experience, but also humility born of struggle and the strength that comes from redemption.
My life has been defined by service, both in uniform and in the courtroom, and I now seek to continue that service as a judge committed to justice, integrity, and compassion.
